Job Description:

Individual Accountabilities
  • Create and deliver best in class GI operational underwriting strategies that drive financial performance and underwriting excellence
  • Responsible for underwriting operations for all General Insurance business including High Net Worth and Small Business Insurance
  • Oversight and leadership through effective planning, forecasting, and reporting of GI Underwriting Operations
  • Deliver legendary customer service and promote an underwriting culture within TDI for General Insurance Products
  • Maintain an effective training and coaching program to continually raise the bar on underwriting excellence within TDI underwriting
  • Responsible for monitoring and reviewing quoting, binding and renewal processes to make sure our teams are respecting UW guidelines
  • Own the final decision about approving or declining a risk within the overall business strategy and underwriting appetite
  • Creation and maintenance of feedback loops to front line agents and upstream teams including supporting the creation of training materials and training plans
  • Maintains ongoing collaboration between claims, pricing and product teams to ensure actions are taken to improve underwriting quality as needed
  • Owns the post implementation monitoring of UW implementations to reduce potential risk events in partnership with technology and controls team
  • Involvement in regulatory change and other strategic initiatives including system requirements, testing and input into customer and front-line communications
  • Supports regulatory queries in collaboration with compliance and government relations teams
  • Maintains dedicated underwriting functions for specialized risks including support for customer escalations, claims escalations, E&O decisions and collaboration with fraud on investigations and initiatives
  • Responsible for maintaining underwriting appetite statements, underwriting and front-line authority statements, and maintaining a robust governance process ensuring that underwriting controls are appropriately designed and operating effectively

  • Advanced Analytics - partnership on creation and usage of underwriting related models
  • Reinsurance - ensures appropriate facultative reinsurance is in place as per underwriting appetite
  • GIAC - support for messaging, underwriting foundations and building a strong underwriting culture
  • Digital Channel - support underwriting excellence within the digital channels
  • HNW, Commercial - partnership to support business strategies and underwriting rigor
