BHANGRA INSTRUCTORS (Dept of Language and Cultures)
POSITION TYPE: Qualified Faculty List (QFL)
POSITION START: September 1, 2025

FACULTY OVERVIEW:
The Language and Cultures Department is the home to the BA Minor in Language and Culture at KPU and offers courses in Cree, French, Japanese, Mandarin, Punjabi, and Spanish languages, in Linguistics, and Language and Culture courses. POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Department of Language and Cultures at KPU invites applications for non-regular positions to be placed on our Qualified Faculty List (QFL) for Bhangra Dance starting in fall 2025. The successful applicants should be committed to providing an excellent undergraduate educational experience for our students in this area. More information concerning the working conditions for a faculty member are outlined in Article 12 of the Kwantlen Faculty Association (KFA) Collective Agreement

QUALIFICATIONS:
The preferred qualifications for the QFL positions in Bhangra Dance are a Master's degree in Arts, with a focus in South Asian culture, specifically Bhangra dance and music. However, candidates with comparable academic experience and practical Bhangra teaching experience will be considered.

Preference will be given to candidates with a proven record of teaching excellence at the post-secondary level in a comparable setting for at least 2 years or 2-year full time equivalency. Professional and applied experience in a culturally diverse environment, and experience with online teaching and other classroom technology will be considered assets. The successful applicant may be asked to take teaching assignments in fall, spring, and May and June summer semesters, day and/or evening, online and at our Surrey and Richmond campuses.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:
A complete application includes a cover letter, current curriculum vitae, a statement on teaching philosophy, samples of research/publications, copies of transcripts of graduate degrees, teaching evaluations, and the names of three referees able to comment on your teaching ability and academic accomplishments. Syllabi from previous courses taught are strongly encouraged.

SALARY INFORMATION:
Placement on the salary scale will be dependent on level of education and relevant teaching experience. Advancement up the pay scale is based on FTE and employment status.

This competition is for successful candidates to be added to our Qualified Faculty List. When work in this area becomes available, our faculty will draw on our Qualified Faculty List to assign work, please indicate on your application your preferred workload percentage.
