BC Parks is responsible for the management of one of the largest protected area systems in North America, spanning 14.4 million hectares of land, encompassing 1,033 provincial parks, recreation areas, conservancies and ecological reserves, and ensuring their world-class conservation, outdoor recreation, and cultural heritage values are protected for generations to come. While the primary agency focus is protecting BC's parks and protected areas, we are also responsible for developing and maintaining programs that promote positive, interactive, and educational user experiences, and building and maintaining capital infrastructure in our parks for the more than 24 million annual visitors that come to enjoy over 10,700 vehicle accessible campsites, 2,000 back country sites, a trail system of over 11,250 kilometres, and our many day use facilities.

The Parks and Protected Areas Administrative Section Head - Office Manager provides support to program management and staff and coordinates office administration functions, human resources, payroll, records management, facilities and asset management, amongst other related duties.

An effective supervisor, you serve as a positive role model for your team, promoting a collaborative and productive work environment and ensuring timely service delivery. You are service oriented and exhibit a high degree of tact, diplomacy and discretion when working with partner agencies, other government staff and the public.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Secondary school graduation or equivalent. Preference may be given to those with a certificate, diploma, or higher in a related field (office/business/public administration, etc.).
  • Experience providing administrative and financial support services for a group of staff.
  • Experience leading others.
