Department Overview

The TD Insurance Performance Management & Strategy team provides the TD Leadership team with thought leadership and decision support by:
  • Leading on-going strategic planning.
  • Identifying and framing strategic growth opportunities including cross-business synergies.
  • Helping contextualize the competitive landscape.
  • Providing unbiased assessment of performance vs. key strategic objectives.
  • Influencing and managing stakeholders to optimize pan-TDI P&L, process, and policies and outperform competitive benchmarks.

Job Description

The Manager, TDI Strategy is a highly visible role that supports pan-insurance business strategy development and partners closely with Enterprise Strategy teams to enable effective strategic decision-making.

The role:
  • Supports the annual strategy planning process by working closely with the Enterprise Strategy team to assist in the preparation of materials for review by the TD Board, TDI Board, Senior Executive Team (SET), and other forums, and to enable alignment with Enterprise priorities, including the development of TDI's Strategic Business Plan and associated Medium-Term Outlook targets.
  • Interprets results, generates insights, and prepares executive-level presentations that distill complex analyses into clear findings and actionable recommendations for senior leaders.
  • Builds strong relationships and collaborates with stakeholders across the Bank, thoughtfully navigating competing priorities and organizational sensitivities to drive alignment.
  • Represents the team across the organization and, where appropriate, in external forums, ensuring consistent and effective communication of strategic insights.
  • Supports the development of strategic advice for the Insurance Senior Executive Committee through thought leadership, rigorous analysis, and clear articulation of the pan-insurance strategy.
  • Informs business investment prioritization by providing analytical support and insights that help position the business for future growth.
  • Conducts research and financial analysis on companies and industry trends, leveraging both internal and external data sources to support strategic discussions and decision-making.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work with pace and manage multiple, time-sensitive, and competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Applies strong, analytically grounded problem-solving skills, with a solid background in data analysis, interpretation of results, and development of high-quality reports and presentations.
  • Exhibits superior written and verbal communication skills, synthesizing complex data and insights into clear, concise, and compelling narratives.
  • Interacts effectively with senior leaders, demonstrating sound judgment, professionalism, and discretion.
  • Acts as a tactical thinker and collaborator in solution development and implementation.
  • Brings a strong understanding of the Bank's financial drivers and organizational structure.
  • Knowledge of the Life & Health and/or Property & Casualty insurance competitive landscape and industry trends is considered an asset.

Requirements:
  • Ability to work with pace and manage multiple time-sensitive and competing priorities.
  • Strong analytically anchored problem-solving skills, with a solid background working with data, conducting analysis, interpreting results and writing reports/presentations.
  • Superior communication skills, both verbal and written, able to synthesize available data and insights into a compelling vision and tell a succinct story.
  • Ability to interact effectively with senior leaders demonstrating superior judgement.
  • Tactical thinker and leader with respect to solution development and implementation
  • Good understanding of the Bank's financial drivers and structure
  • Knowledge of Life & Health or Property & Casualty industry competitive environment and trends is an asset.
  • MBA or other Masters level degree is an asset
