Job Description

Overview
Are you a strategic people leader who thrives at the intersection of business needs and employee experience? Do you bring a consultative mindset, strong political and business acumen, and a passion for building trusted relationships that empower others?

We're looking for a Manager, People & Culture Business Partnerships to lead a team of People & Culture professionals supporting a divisional client group. In this role, you won't just deliver HR support-you'll act as a strategic advisor and relationship manager, helping business leaders connect the dots between operational priorities and enterprise goals.

You'll lead and integrate the strategic and effective delivery of People & Culture services, projects, and initiatives, working as a trusted and valued partner to divisional leadership teams. While leading the team is a key part of the role, so is enabling a consistent, collaborative, and shared service experience for leaders, employees, and stakeholders.

You'll drive people-related initiatives that enhance organizational performance, leadership capability, and culture. Your collaborative working style will be invaluable in contributing to a team environment where we lead by example and pull on different strengths to reach shared goals - ensuring we leverage each other in meeting client needs, with the needs of the enterprise in the forefront.

You'll support a team navigating complex changes by leading with curiosity and confidence.

This is a unique opportunity to lead change and influence people practices that shape the future of work at WorkSafeBC.

This is a temporary role for 18 months.

How you'll make a difference: You'll build and empower teams that serve workers and employers across B.C.

Where you'll work
At WorkSafeBC, we offer a hybrid work model that combines working remotely, and in our offices based on the operational needs of the position.

In this role, you will work primarily from our Richmond Office with some flexibility to work from your home in B.C.
  • Act as a connector across the organization-bringing the right people together at the right time to solve complex problems and reduce duplication of effort
  • Support and coach operational leaders to elevate their own strategic thinking and decision-making capabilities
  • Influence and lead change within a transforming organization, supporting the shift from tactical HR to strategic People & Culture partnerships
  • Provide leadership and mentorship in a consultative and strategic role to a small team of People & Culture Partners and Advisors
  • Collaborate with fellow P&C Business Partnership managers to enable and empower the broader P&C Business Partnership team for success, ensuring consistency in service delivery and alignment across the function
  • Participate as a member of a divisional management team, your clients, to identify People & Culture management and planning needs within the division
  • In consultation with the business clients, you will develop People & Culture priorities, performance objectives, and business plans for the People & Culture Business Partnerships team in order to support achievement of the division's business objectives, operational needs, and strategic objectives
  • Consistently models the appropriate level of organizational behaviours expected of all WorkSafeBC employees: responsive, respectful, fair, collaborative, accountable, and forward thinking.
We're looking for someone who can:
  • Demonstrate strong business and political acumen in order to navigate organizational dynamics and influence outcomes
  • Thrive in ambiguity, helping to drive organizational transformation
  • Show curiosity and confidence while fostering authentic, trust-based relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Demonstrate strong consultation, influencing, coaching, project management, and facilitation skills
  • Exhibit excellent communication (verbal and written), analytical, problem solving, and interpersonal skills
  • Work successfully in an environment that is: team based, undergoing significant and on-going change, customer-service focused and has multiple competing demands and constantly changing priorities
  • Bring a collaborative approach to stakeholder engagement, connecting the right people at the right time together.
  • Effectively balance business needs and the employee experience within a unionized environment
  • Experience supporting unionized environments and fostering strong, productive labour-management relationships
Your background and experience
