The Advanced Technology Group, within the Amazon Chime team is the cornerstone of the AWS Center for Audio and Video Excellence. Our charter is to think big, re-imagine, reinvent, problem solve, innovate and deliver novel, state-of-the-art solutions to audio and video problems. We are interested in all aspects of audio and video technology and we leverage the latest Machine Learning (ML) and Signal Processing (DSP) techniques to surprise and delight our customers. Our applications include real-time audio/video communications, audio/video scene analysis, anomaly detection, audio/speech/music/image/video processing, enhancement, analysis, synthesis and coding.
We reach our customers in multiple ways. Our work feeds directly into the Amazon Chime SDK, which now has worldwide adoption and rapid growth. We also contribute to Amazon Chime App and power other AWS and Amazon multimedia offerings. In addition, we are building and launching new standalone AWS cloud services to put our technology directly into the hands of builders and customers. We have the nimbleness of a small startup outfit, but, at the same time, the immense resources of AWS which is the world leader in cloud computing behind us as well. The Principle Scientist is going to initiate and work on key initiatives for developing and advancing Video technology for AWS. They will be responsible for developing our multi-year strategy for the business and research and technical roadmap, leading the development of data-driven and algorithmic improvements, leading the path to production, and influencing design and architecture of goal-relevant software. They will work in a hybrid, fast-paced organization where scientists and engineers work jointly together and drive improvements directly to production.
The role will work across teams and areas influencing data, algorithm, and design decisions. Areas of interest cover the whole vision/image/video processing spectrum, including active learning and semi-/unsupervised learning techniques.
The Principle Scientist for Computer Vision/Machine Learning/Deep Learning will help drive scalable, robust, and automated solutions, leading scientists to make new algorithms and processes scalable to work on production-scale data sizes and achieving fully automated adaptation of processes and algorithms to new environments and to other locales. They will also lead integration of new algorithms and processes into existing modeling stacks, simplify and streamline the existing modeling stacks, and develop testing and evaluation strategies. They will influence design and architecture of software stacks used offline and at runtime for building and deploying model artifacts, achieving flexible yet efficient solutions suitable for R&D work and for running in production. They will mentor scientists and review scientific work in other organizations to raise the bar of scientific research within Amazon.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
