Hourly: $52.41-$114.65/hour; Per Three Credit Course: $7,947; Actual salary or hourly rate will be based on the number of credits and term of appointment according to the Collective Agreement.
The Opportunity
The Therapeutic Recreation Department is seeking a contract faculty for the Fall 2025 academic term to teach THRT 2309 Physical Fitness: Theory and Application in Therapeutic Recreation. The location of work is in-person at the Coquitlam Campus of Douglas College.

The Program:
The Department of Therapeutic Recreation is a unique program, recognized as an innovative program leader with a strong academic and research-based curriculum in addition to numerous opportunities for experiential learning throughout both the Diploma and Bachelor Degree programs. Graduates from both the Diploma and Degree programs are career ready or, if desired, some Degree graduates choose to continue onto Graduate level programs. The Department of Therapeutic Recreation currently prepares BTR students for eligibility to become a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist.
Responsibilities:
As a faculty member, you will be required to instruct students, facilitate learning, and evaluate student progress in a therapeutic recreation course.
You will plan, organize, and manage learning activities and resources, provide academic advice to learners, and maintain high quality learner-centred instruction. A faculty member is also required to work collaboratively with all TR Department members.

Position Requirements:
• A doctoral degree is preferred, but an otherwise qualified candidate with a master's degree or bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Kinesiology, or related field may be considered.
• A minimum of one credential must have a major in Therapeutic Recreation, Recreation, or Leisure Studies.
• Current NCTRC certification.
• Knowledge and work experience in fitness for people of various ages and abilities.
• Knowledge and experience in applying fitness principles to developing individual & group fitness programs. Experience and education in adaptive fitness is preferred.
• Knowledge of cultural diversity and ability to work with people of varying ages and abilities.
• Having demonstrated a strong commitment to innovative approaches to teaching and learning and having a range of teaching experiences in post-secondary education is preferred.
• Excellent communication skills and willingness to work cooperatively in a team setting.
• The ability to use online learning platforms is required, even for in-person teaching.
