COUNSELLING PSYCHOLOGY INSTRUCTORS
POSITION TYPE: Non-Regular Type 2 Faculty (NR2) (50%)
POSITION START: September 1, 2025
FACULTY OVERVIEW:
Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) is the fourth largest university in the province of British Columbia and serves communities in the South Fraser region and beyond. Within KPU, the Faculty of Arts has over 6000 full-time students and over 300 faculty members from across the Humanities and Social Sciences. The Faculty of Arts includes 19 departments and 21 programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The Faculty is also home to two Canada Research Chairs: the first in Lifespan Cognition, and the second in South Asian Literary and Cultural Studies. Many of our programs offer opportunities for experiential education through practicums, co-ops, international field-schools and exchanges, service learning, community engagement, and research collaborations. Educational Studies at KPU is a small but growing department. We currently offer a B.A. Minor in Counselling and an Education Stream. We are primarily a teaching-oriented university and department and the successful candidate will also be expected to engage in university and departmental committee work as well as in community outreach. It is expected that all faculty members shall engage in an ongoing process of professional development.

POSITION OVERVIEW:
This position involves teaching in the Fall 2025 (Sept. to Dec) and Spring 2026 (Jan. to April) semesters. We are seeking faculty with expertise and experience to teach sections from the following courses:

QUALIFICATIONS:

A complete application includes a cover letter, current curriculum vitae, statement of teaching philosophy, evidence of undergraduate teaching success (including course syllabi/outlines and course evaluations), sample of research or other publication, copies of transcripts of graduate degrees, and a list of three professional referees able to comment on your teaching ability and academic accomplishments.

This competition is for a maximum FTE of 50% (NR2). *Salary Information:
Placement on the salary scale will be dependent on level of education and relevant teaching experience. Advancement up the pay scale is based on FTE and employment status.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- A minimum of a Masters degree in Counselling Psychology or Clinical Psychology from an accredited program. Preference will be given to those with a PhD in Counselling Psychology or Clinical Psychology.
- Extensive experience and exceptional record teaching undergraduate university courses in counselling psychology
- Experience supervising students practicing individual and group counselling skills.
- A strong understanding of the value of and a demonstrated commitment to a broad liberal arts tradition in education
- Demonstrated potential to create courses that will contribute to the expansion of the department
