Job Description:

DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

Co-op and Internship opportunities allow you to gain valuable work experience across a number of the businesses at TD. You will work with experienced colleagues, receive world class training, and be part of a community of students across TD, where you will have an impact, grow as individual and experience our culture of care.

Our Co-op/Intern Programming is offered with select Co-op and Internship roles and is designed to help you better understand the TD business, build on critical career capabilities, and broaden your professional network. This program is designed to complement your on-the job experience and features:

TD's Tax Services is responsible for managing TDBG's total tax position including planning, compliance, reporting and strategy, and liaising with Finance and other business groups and external revenue tax authorities. The mandate of Tax Services includes being a valued business partner by fostering strong partnerships, providing proactive tax advice and timely communication of changes in the tax legislative and tax administration landscape. Our tax group is organized by country teams, specialty teams ( e.g. transfer pricing, commodity tax, international tax) and a governance team.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Intern Position within Tax Services will have the opportunity to gain first-hand experience and appreciation of the various streams of tax work within a large business organization and learn about the impact of tax operations on TD's business as well as how the Tax Services group supports other TDBG areas such as business functions or Finance. The Intern will be reporting to the Tax Transfer Pricing team which will provide a unique opportunity for the intern to gain business knowledge of TDBG's worldwide operations

  • Participate in or take charge of certain process improvement initiatives related to tax reporting requirements.

  • Arrange, participate and prepare summaries of interviews with TDBG staff relevant for the project or transaction under analysis.

  • Extract and review financial data, develop excel or other financial models to analyze the data and generate appropriate output or reports.

  • Prepare written report(s) including appropriate financial model as support and process document, if applicable.

  • Automate and replace manual processes where opportunities arise. E.g. using Alteryx, Tableau

  • Work with the Transfer Pricing team on Country-by-Country Reporting for TDBG, including liaising with foreign subsidiaries on notification filings and compiling TDBG's subsidiaries listing.

  • Assist in collecting data required for tax compliance reporting. Document data collection processes where appropriate .

  • Prepare submissions to the tax authorities.

  • Extract and review financial data, develop excel or other financial models to analyze the data and generate appropriate output or reports .

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree in accounting, economics or financial analysis or related field ; with the intent of going back to school at the start of your work term (requirement of all co-op/intern positions)

  • Second or third year of study will be preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to critical thinking

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship skills

  • Demonstrated time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines

  • Ability to interact effectively in a professional manner with the team and internal stakeholders

  • Ability to manage multiple projects, simultaneously

  • Excellent Excel skills (knowledge of Alteryx is a plus)

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
